Large Labor Model
WHEN WILL AI REACH YOUR JOB?
This model traces human labor, what people do for a living and how many people do it, from the first point at which it can be measured at global scale to the furthest point at which it can be reasonably projected. In 1800, roughly four in five people worked the land. In 2026, that share has fallen to less than one in four, and AI has become capable of performing most tasks across knowledge-based professions.
By placing rapidly advancing artificial systems in the context of labor history, this model attempts to make visible what is technically replaceable—and how this might affect the future of work.
